Our first community litter pick

We've been talking about running a litter pick since the very beginning. It felt like the right thing to do — we make outdoor clothing, the outdoors matters to us, and picking up litter is about as direct an action as it gets. The first one was smaller than we'd imagined. Fifteen people showed up on a grey October morning, which felt like a win given the weather forecast the night before. We split into three groups and covered about four kilometres of trail and riverbank over two hours. The haul: 23 bags of general waste, two car tyres, one shopping trolley (always one shopping trolley), and an inexplicable amount of golf balls. The golf balls remain a mystery. What struck us most was how quickly people got into it. There's something oddly satisfying about leaving a stretch of trail visibly cleaner than you found it. A few people who came along not knowing anyone left swapping numbers to come back next month. We're planning to make these monthly. The next one is on the first Saturday of November — details will go up on our Instagram. Bring gloves, wear something you don't mind getting muddy, and we'll sort the bags and grabbers. If you want to get involved or know a spot that could do with some attention, drop us a message. The more people, the more ground we can cover.
